Omemee legion branch hosting pasta night Oct. 20
The Omemee branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Pasta Night, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. The deadline for the children’s photography contest is also fast approaching. The contest is open to children ages six to 13.
Photos must be 8 1/2 x 11, taken locally and submitted to Coronation Hall during business hours by Oct. 20 at noon. No photos of people and no late submissions will be accepted.
Categories are Animals, nature scenes, and weather for junior and senior children. There is a $50 prize for the winner of each category. Prizes will be presented at the Lions Chuckwagon supper this fall.
Curlers needed
If you are interested in curling this season and missed registration night at the Omemee Curling Centre all is not lost. You can still register online at www.omemeecurling.com
The centre offers curling leagues for all ages and levels of experience. No previous experience is needed and other than a clean pair of shoes, equipment is available.
Scouting snacks
1st Omemee Scouting is selling popcorn again this year. If you don’t know a member and are interested, please call me at 705-799-7064. Delivery is mid-November.
Tea and talk
There will be a Tea and Talk for Seniors, Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Adelaide Place, 84 Adelaide St. S., Lindsay presented by Elder Abuse Network. Call 705928-4465 to register.
Seniors meeting
Omemee Seniors will meet Oct. 10, 17 and 31 at 1 p.m. at the Omemee Legion for euchre. Cost is $2.50 per person.
Oct. 24, 12:30 p.m. is the monthly potluck, $3 per person. Bring your favourite dish to share along with your cutlery, mug and plate to speed up clean up.

Heart program
“The Beat Goes On” heart health program will be held at 65 Melbourne St. W. (Village Housing), Oct. 31 with the Ross Memorial Hospital diabetic education team in attendance. Call 705324-6111 ext 4145 to register.
Community care

Meals on Wheels is available in Omemee and Downeyville for a minimal fee.
A Cancer support group for those diagnosed with cancer or receiving treatments will be held Oct. 23, 2 to 4 p.m. at 2 Kent St. W. Call ext 503 for information or to register.
A Stroke Survivor support group for stroke survivors, family and caregivers will be held Oct. 12, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., 65 Melbourne St. W., Lindsay. For information or to register call ext. 111.
A Caregiver Support Group for those caring for a patient with a terminal or life limiting illness will be held Oct. 11, 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Oct. 25, 2 to 3:30 p.m., 2 Kent St. W. Call ext 503 for details.
A webinar information session for palliative care and grief partners will be held Oct 10 at noon and Oct. 19 at 6 p.m., 2 Kent St. W. The topic will be When Death and Loss are part of the job. Call ext 500 to register and for further information.
An adult day program is held at Trinity United Church, Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This program allows caregivers an opportunity to relax, do errands, enjoy a coffee with friends while their charge is enjoying a safe social setting.
