- MIKE DAVIES EXAMINER SPORTS DIRECTOR mdavies@postmedia.com

The Petes held their annual Remembrance Day ceremony prior to Saturday’s game with a lengthy tribute from P.A. announcer Gord Gibb to soldiers who fought at Vimy Ridge.

The Petes hold the ceremony in their last home game prior to Nov. 11. In most years it would be this coming Thursday but the Petes do not have a home game on Thursday. The OHL has a blackout across the league with the league hosting one of the CIBC Canada-Russia Series games in Owen Sound. Petes’ goalie Dylan Wells and centre Jonathan Ang will play for Team OHL. The OHL’s second game of the series is Nov. 13 in Sudbury where Ang will again represent the OHL.

The Petes next home game is Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Kingston Frontenacs. A Skate with the Petes party will be held after the game for all fans with a game ticket.

Eastern Canada Cup

Two Petes’ draft picks will participate in the 2017 Eastern Canada Cup junior A showcase tournament Nov. 13-15 in Trenton.

Carleton Place forward Connor HIll will play for Team CCHL while Toronto Patriots forward Colton Kalezic will play for Team OJHL.

Rayside-Balfour forward and Peterborough native James White will play for Team NOJHL. Fenelon Falls native and Lindsay Muskies forward Brock Traill will play for Team OJHL.

Roster notes

The Petes lost a fourth forward to injury when Adam Timleck left Saturday’s game with an upper body injury after being high sticked into the boards. He did not play Sunday joining Logan DeNoble, Zach Gallant and Nick Isaacson on the sidelines. DeNoble is considered day-to-day after suffering an upper body injury early in Thursday’s home game. Gallant (lower body) is also considered day-to-day. Isaacson is expected to miss several weeks with an upper body injury.

The Petes dressed seven defencemen Saturday sitting out Gleb Babintsev and went with eight defencemen on Sunday with some of them seeing spot duty at forward.
