Remembrance ceremony held in Buckhorn
The colour party was from the Lakefield, Apsley, Bobcaygeon and Peterborough Legions and were piped in by professional piper Nick Lash. In the colour party were representatives of Trent Lakes and Selwyn fire departments. School children were there to sing O Canada. Student Rylee Dixon read In Flanders Fields. The Last Post, followed by silence, followed by the Lament was followed by the Reveille. The honour roll was read and wreaths presented. Reverend Ingram did the prayers and the blessing. The colour guard was dismissed. The more than 200 people assembled were part of the act of remembrance.
The Remembrance service was preceded by the dedication of the Heroes of Yesterday monument by Rev. Terry Ingram and Memory Lane by Judy McWhirter. This is the first phase of Memory Lane. More stones will be added in 2018.
