Diabetes expert to offer health tips in Omemee

The Omemee and District Lions Club will present a speaker about the importance of diabetes knowledge in reducing complicati­ons and improving your personal health. The ABCs of Diabetes will be held at Coronation Hall, Nov, 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Following the speaker there will be a question and answer session as well as healthy snacks. No admission charge.

Library moves

For any patrons of the Omemee branch of the library you are aware of just how small the facility is. The branch will be relocating as of Nov. 21 to the former Hardware Store location on King St. The new facilities will be much better able to serve the village.

Photo contest

Winners of the Children’s Photograph­y competitio­n were announced recently. In the 6-9 category Kayleigh Cross, 7, won the animal class; Ryan Kellett, 6, Nature and Tyler Kellett, 8, Weather. In the 10-13 age group, Alexis Mitchell, 12, won Animal; Bradyn Messervey, 12, Nature and Nolan Brohm, 13, Weather. Congratula­tions to all the entrants and winners.

Lioness

The Omemee Lioness Club members are busy making their famous apple pies. In the past few years the small group have made over 1000 pies annually. The pies are available for purchase for $8 each with the proceeds helping various local activities. To order contact Lioness Barb at abouttyme@sympatico.ca

The Lioness in conjunctio­n with Community Care will host a Christmas luncheon for seniors at Christ Church Anglican, Dec. 7 at noon. Cost is $6 per person for a traditiona­l turkey dinner. The luncheon is open to anyone 55 yrs. and over and no registrati­on is necessary.

Medical centre

The Omemee Medical Centre is looking for interested people to sit on the board of directors. The board consists of up to nine members and four will be completing their terms. The current board has been in place since 2007 so new blood and thoughts are needed. The board meets four evenings per year. Their goal is to bring health care services to Omemee. Seniors

Omemee Seniors will meet Nov. 14 and 21 at 1 p.m. at the Omemee Legion for euchre. Cost is $2.50 per person.

Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m. is the monthly potluck, $3 per person. Bring your favourite dish to share along with your cutlery, mug and plate to speed up clean up.

Janetville

Janetville Pastoral Charge (Janetville and Mount Horeb United Churches) have several events coming up. Community luncheons will be held Nov. 16 and Dec. 21, noon at Janetville United. A free will offering is collected for the local elementary school food programs.

Thefemale singing group, Joyfull Noise, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m at Janetville United, 714 Janetville Rd. Tickets are $10 and available by calling the office at705-324-4006. Dec. 9, 2-4 p.m., Rock’n Grandma Et Compagnie will be entertaini­ng. Tickets are $10.

Scott Young PS

Scott Young Public School will be the setting for a Vendor Fundraiser, Nov. 18, 9:30-1:30 p.m. Free admission. There will be a variety of vendors selling items, snacks and drinks available. The Grade 8 students will be offering gift wrapping for a small fee to raise funds for their end-of-year trip.
