Rose, 14, leads way for Trent with 5 medals

The Trent Swim Club earned 16 medals at the Barrie Aquatics Club Invitation­al Meet on Nov. 4-5 featuring more than 400 swimmers from Huronia Region.

Leading the way for Trent was 14 year old Jaiden Rose winning five medals including two silver medals (100 and 200 freestyle), and three bronze (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 50 freestyle). Rose also picked up top eight finishes in the 800 freestyle (fourth) and the 400 freestyle (eighth).

Following closely behind was teammate Elizabeth Ferrari with top eight placings in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 breastroke, 200 breastroke and 200 IM. Meg Rogers had a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle and top eight placings in the 50, 100, 200 freestyle. Rogers combined with Rose, Ferrari and Paige Piche to pick up a silver medal in the 200 freestyle relay.

The boys were led by Tanner Harris Barton, aged 10, who had four medals including two silver (100 IM and 200 IM) and two bronze (50 fly and 100 fly) and a top eight finish in the 200

backstroke. Ryder Linde Elmhirst, 16, had a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle and top eight finishes in the 50, 200 and 400 freestyle. Evan Feick, 16, had a silver medal in the 100 breastroke and top eight placing in the 200 breastroke, 400 freestyle. Isabella Crockower, 16, had six top eight placings in the 200

backstroke, 100 fly and 200 IM. Sam Baker, 14, had a bronze medal in the 200 fly and top eight finishes in the 100 fly and 200 IM. Tristen Melville, 14, had a bronze medal in the 200 breastroke in a top eight placing in the 100 breastroke. Samuel Loureiro Kent, 15, had solid performanc­es in all his events including top eight placings in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Kelly Mitchell, 10, competed strong in her age group finishing top eight in the 50 back, 100 back, 100 freestyle and 200 IM. Older sibling John Mitchell had a bronze medal in the 100 breastroke. Rowan Campbell, 9, had a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke as well as

top eight placings in the 50 backstroke and 100 IM. Older sibling Zoe Campbell had top eight finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Samantha Garside had a top eight placing in the girls

11-12 200 fly (fourth) and older sibling Mackenzie Garside had a top eight placing in the 13-14 100 breastroke. Macy Mullen competed in the 13-14 year old category and had a top eightplaci­ng in the 200 breastroke and younger sibling Maxeen Mullen had a bronze medal in the 100 breastroke, as well as a top eight placing in the 400 IM.

The following swimmers placed in the top eight in their respective age groups and genders; Haley Griffin (200 breastroke), Ali Jones (800 freestyle), Bethany Kortun (800 freestyle), Taylor Tompkins (400 IM) and Patrick Turner (800 freestyle).
