Snofest events continue all week

- NAOMI STOCK TOWN

A Snofest Tea is a great way to enjoy some community spirit and warm up on a cold winter day. There are two Teas in the Town Ward on Tuesday. Empress Gardens, located at 131 Charlotte St., is hosting a Snofest Tea at 2:30 p.m. This event is free and all are welcome. For more informatio­n, please visit www.peterborou­ghsnofest.ca. Hutchison House Museum, located at 270 Brock St. is hosting a Snofest Fireside Tea, with sittings at 1 and 2 p.m. Visitors will enjoy tea or coffee and sweet apple buckle (an old-fashioned dessert similar to apple cobbler), next to the crackling fire in the Museum’s 1840s kitchen, known as the Keeping Room. Tours of the museum will also be available. Tickets for the event are $5 per person and must be booked in advance. Snofest Bingo

There are several opportunit­ies this week to enjoy a game of Bingo. These Snofest events take place Wednesday at Rubidge Retirement Residence, 270 Rubidge St. and Thursday at Jackson Creek Retirement Residence, 491 Reid St. All games start at 2 p.m. and admission is free. Snofest Youth Night

Children, ages 10-14, are invited to Snofest Youth Night, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the YMCA, 123 Aylmer St. The evening includes a variety of supervised games and activities. Admission is a $5 donation to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. For more informatio­n, please call 705-748-9622.

Snofest Jamboree

Peterborou­gh Snofest presents a Jamboree, Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the McDonnel St. Activity Centre, 577 McDonnel St. The afternoon features country music by Don Tandy and Just Plain Country, and an open mic session.

Cost is $7 per person or $5 for entertaine­rs. Sandwiches and desserts are available for purchase. For more info, call 705-874-1301.

Hypnotist

The Holiday Inn, 150 George St., presents Family Fun with Carter Lewis, Saturday at 8 p.m. Lewis is family-friendly hypnotist, described by fans as “mysterious, hilarious and harmless”. Admission is $5 per person and all children under the age of 16 must be accompanie­d by an adult. Neuropathy Support

The next meeting of the Neuropathy Support Group is Monday Jan. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Banting Legacy Hall, lower level of Westmount Pharmacy, 1293 Clonsilla Ave. People who suffer from neuropathy and their families and friends, are welcome. The Support Group provides companions­hip, morale support and advice on living with peripheral neuropathy. Please park in the rear lot of Westmount Pharmacy.
