Trent curling, fencing teams off to OUA finals

-

After a strong showing at the Brock Invitational, the Trent men’s and women’s curling teams hope to bring home an OUA banner, while the Trent volleyball teams host back to back games this weekend at the Trent Athletics Centre and Trent women’s fencing prepares for the start of OUA Championships.

After a strong showing at the Brock invitational in January, which saw the Excalibur women’s curlers finish second and the men fourth, the expectations are high leading into the OUA championships hosted by Algoma. The OUAs start Thursday and run through to the championship rounds Monday. The men’s and women’s teams from 15 schools will compete.

Both Excalibur teams missed the podium last year, and come into the championships with high expectations, looking to build off the momentum earned from a strong showing in Brock.

The women’s fencing team will travel to Ottawa this weekend for the OUA championships hosted by Carleton University.

The men’s and women’s volleyball teams will play host to Nipissing and York over the weekend. On the men’s side, Nipissing comes into the contest having won their last game, while the second place York Lions will enter Sunday eager to get back into the win column after dropping their last match. On the women’s side, Nipissing enters Saturday’s contest having won their last match, while York have lost their last seven. The women kick off action Saturday at 6 p.m. while the Sunday matches start at 4 p.m.
