Drug unit arrests three

City police have arrested three people and seized a handgun, drugs and cash. An investigat­ion by officers from the Intelligen­ce, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture, Drugs unit, the police emergency response team and a canine unit was conducted at a location behind a George St. address Wednesday.

Police seized a loaded 9 mm handgun with high-capacity magazine, about 80 grams of suspected cocaine, 31 oxycocet tablets and a what police describe as a large amount of Canadian currency, its value to be determined.

James Alexander Park, 28, of Durham Region, was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthoriz­ed possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibitio­n order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizan­ce.

Zachary David Graham-Singh, 25, of Durham Region, was charged with the two counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g (cocaine and oxycocet) and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000. James Moncur, 46, of Peterborou­gh, was charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g (cocaine), possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation order

All three were held in custody and were to appear in court Thursday.
