City’s heritage can be sustainable: Lecture
On Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., join the Peterborough Historical Society for their public lecture. This month’s topic is Heritage in the Age of Climate Change. The movement to preserve our built heritage has changed dramatically over the last 50 years, with environmental issues becoming major considerations.
Guest speaker Erik Hanson, heritage resources co-ordinator for the City of Peterborough, will explain why heritage is the emerging champion in the race to zero net carbon and discuss what municipalities and the private sector can do to support the sustainable rehabilitation of existing buildings.

The Downtown Business Improvement Area Breakfast Network is hosting Rhonda Keenan, president and CEO of Peterborough & The Kawarthas Economic Development, on Wednesday morning. The Breakfast Network meets regularly on the third Wednesday of the month at Empress Gardens, 131 Charlotte Street. Body Sacred
Join special guest Celia McBride at Body Sacred, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., in the auditorium at The Mount Community Centre, for an evening to celebrate the miracle of the human body through dance, music, words and prayer.

Arts Awards
Mark your calendars for May 25 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. for the Inaugural Peterborough Arts Awards and the Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts. This event celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in the Arts in Peterborough and surrounding area, features guest speaker Wanda Nanibusg, curator of Indigenous Arts at the Art Gallery of Ontario, will take place at McDonnel Street Activity Centre. The Electric City Culture Council (EC3) will award cash prizes to artists, art supporters and art catalysts. In addition, four bursaries will be awarded to graduating high school students who are pursuing visual arts education at the post secondary level.
