Currier has three points in Knighthawk­s upset win

The Rochester Knighthawk­s upset the Buffalo Bandits 17-10 at the Key Bank Center in Buffalo on Saturday night. The Bandits fell to 6-4 but maintain a half-game lead in the National Lacrosse League East Division over the Toronto Rock and New England Black Wolves. Peterborou­gh’s Josh Currier had a goal and two assists for the Knighthawk­s while fellow Peterborou­gh Lakers Jake Withers and Cory Vitarelli each had a goal.

Matthews’s seven-point night leads Rush past Roughnecks 10-6

SASKATOON — Mark Matthews had a hat trick and added four assists to lead the Saskatchew­an Rush past the Calgary Roughnecks 10-6 on Saturday in National Lacrosse League action. Jeff Shattler and Matthew Dinsdale had two goals apiece for Saskatchew­an (9-2), while Robert Church, Jeremy Thompson and Ben McIntosh chipped in as well. Ryan Keenan had four assists, while Peterborou­gh Laker Evan Kirk made 37 saves for the win. Wesley Berg scored four times for Calgary (4-6) and Peterborou­gh Laker Curtis Dickson added a pair of goals. Christian Del Bianco stopped 42-of-51 shots. The Rush went 5 for 5 on the power play and the Roughnecks were 3 for 3.

Leblanc leads Black Wolves rally past Stealth 12-11 in overtime

LANGLEY, B.C. — Stephan Leblanc scored his fourth goal of the night in overtime as the New England Black Wolves rallied to a 12-11 win over the Vancouver Stealth on Saturday in National Lacrosse League action. Seth Oakes and Kevin Crowley both scored in the final three minutes of play in the fourth quarter to help New England (5-4) force the extra period. Johnny Powless and Colton Watkinson had two goals apiece, while Adam Bomberry and John LaFontaine also scored. Aaron Bold made 50 saves on 61 shots for the win. Rhys Duch and Joel McCready both had two goals and two assists for Vancouver (1-10). Corey Small and Andrew Suitor each had a pair of goals, while Matt Beers, Travis Cornwall and Tony Malcom also scored. Eric Penney turned aside 48-of-60 shots in net for the Stealth. The Black Wolves had no power plays and Vancouver scored on its one man advantage.

Rush deal for Dawson

The NLL West Division leading Saskatchew­an Rush acquired high-scoring Dan Dawson from the Rochester Knighthawk­s on Monday in exchange for a 2018 second-round draft pick and 2020 third-round draft pick. The 36-year-old Dawson, competing in his 17th NLL season, is fifth in league history in both goals (469) and points (1,271) and fourth all-time in assists (802).
