Monsef touts Canada 150 achievements
Grants helped fund Market Hall lighting, exterior renovations
The Peterborough-Kawartha riding received a total of $310,099 in funding for 10 projects through the Canada 150 grant program.
The money was meant to help communities do infrastructure projects, in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday this year.
One of the projects was $88,000 to improve interior lighting at Market Hall.
When that project came in under budget, the city got permission from the federal government to apply what was left of the grant — $68,000 — to an exterior restoration at Market Hall.
The job — which is still underway — involves the restoration of decayed wood trim as well as brick pointing. The total cost is expected to be $357,000.
