Volunteers sought for next month’s Artsweek events
An annual arts event is looking for volunteers in September.
Artsweek officials are seeking up to 50 volunteers for the 10-day event.
Artweek runs throughout the city from Sept. 21 to 30.
This year, it’ll feature 100 local artists in more than 40 events.
There’ll be everything from video projections to aerial circus performances and installations to printmaking in the streets.
Hannah Keating, Artsweek’s artistic director, said they’re looking for about 15 core volunteers who can commit to about 20 hours each.
The rest should be able to commit a couple of hours, long enough to work an event, for example.
Artsweek Peterborough is looking for ambassadors, promoters, on-site production assistants, site leads, a campaign assistant for the pride parade accessibility assistants.
Ambassadors will answer questions from the public, help manage crowds, and collect donations and feedback evaluation forms.
Promoters will work in advance of Artsweek, spreading the word about the festival, handing out flyers and distributing signage.
On-site production assistant will work with artists to install and tear down installations and prep spaces for performances and events.
The site lead should have experience in event co-ordination or staff management. They’ll be the volunteer lead at events and will be responsible for the donation boxes and safety and informational resources.
Artsweek is joining the Peterborough Pride Parade this year by entering a float. Art Loves Pride is the theme and there’ll be an event to prepare in advance of the parade on Sept. 5.
It’ll include bike decorating and the creation of a banner.
The campaign assistant will manage the event.
With a focus on accessibility this year, the accessible assistant will support audience members of all abilities to comfortably enjoy performances.
Grade 12 high school students who would like to volunteer can use the hours toward their volunteer credit.
Interested volunteers can fill out a form on Artsweek’s website at www.artsweekptbo.com
