Charges laid in Sunday robbery
A 34-year-old Stewart Street man faces several charges after a Sunday morning knifepoint robbery at a McDonnel Street convenience store.
A man wielding two knives entered the store at about 5:30 a.m. before demanding the clerk hand over all available cash, city police stated. The employee complied before the suspect fled the store.
A suspect was identified and then located sitting outside a George Street restaurant, where he was arrested about four hours later, police stated. A prohibited knife and a quantity of marijuana were seized.
The accused is bound by a weapon prohibition order, police said.
Duncan James Corbiere was charged with robbery with theft, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana under 30 grams, possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was to appear in court later in the day Monday.
