Shutout win moves Peterborough City into first place in OSL division
The Peterborough City men’s soccer team blasted Olympiakos 7-0 in their second last home game Sunday night at Eastgate Memorial Park.
City improved to 7-2-2 to move one point ahead of Scarborough Azzurri (7-1-3) for first place in the Ontario Soccer League’s Central Region East. Cavan FC (6-2-2) are three points back with one game in hand as they prepare to face City on Friday at 7 p.m. at Eastgate in what could determine first place and promotion to the Provincial East Division for 2019. Peterborough’s final game is on the road to Olympiakos on Sept. 14. The Queen’s Park Rangers (6-1-5) are in fourth place four points behind Peterborough. Matt Caguana led City with a hat trick while Logan Craig, Dominic Iammancini, Paul Mai and Joshua Elgeti also scored. Sam Barratt registered the shutout.
