Shutout win moves Peterborou­gh City into first place in OSL division

The Peterborou­gh City men’s soccer team blasted Olympiakos 7-0 in their second last home game Sunday night at Eastgate Memorial Park.

City improved to 7-2-2 to move one point ahead of Scarboroug­h Azzurri (7-1-3) for first place in the Ontario Soccer League’s Central Region East. Cavan FC (6-2-2) are three points back with one game in hand as they prepare to face City on Friday at 7 p.m. at Eastgate in what could determine first place and promotion to the Provincial East Division for 2019. Peterborou­gh’s final game is on the road to Olympiakos on Sept. 14. The Queen’s Park Rangers (6-1-5) are in fourth place four points behind Peterborou­gh. Matt Caguana led City with a hat trick while Logan Craig, Dominic Iammancini, Paul Mai and Joshua Elgeti also scored. Sam Barratt registered the shutout.
