Mail ripped to pieces

-

A 70-year-old woman was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm after a city police officer came across a man and woman arguing in a vehicle stopped on Water Street near Parkhill Road with its fourway flashes on at about 5 p.m. Monday.

The officer stopped to see if everything was in order and found the two to be in a domestic relationship. The woman was asked to leave after more investigation. She initially refused, but then decided to do so, police said.

She exited the vehicle with mail from her partner and when she was asked to return it, she began ripping it to pieces, police said. She was arrested for mischief and, while being taken to the police station, allegedly uttered threats to kill her partner.

She was released for a Sept. 13 court appearance. Names were not released because of the domestic nature of the incident, police said.
