Zachary Wall has admitted to stabbing his stepfather with a butcher knife.

Peterborough police and paramedics were called to 294 Stewart St. shortly after midnight on July 6 after his stepfather was found with a chest wound. He was taken by paramedics to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

On Wednesday, Wall pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with a probation order and a theft under $5,000 charge in connection with a separate crime.

He was originally charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a probation order.

According to the agreed statement of facts, all parties involved had been drinking. Reading from the facts, assistant Crown attorney Kevin Doyle said police reported that Wall’s mother was uttering that her “son had done.”

Wall was located at the home and arrested.

Police also found a blue handled butcher knife with blood on it.

His stepfather had a punctured left lung and required four stitches.

Wall returns to court for sentencing on Tuesday.
