Petes trim roster

The Peterborou­gh Petes are down to 28 players on their roster after reassignin­g 16 players after Wednesday night’s Maroon and White Game.

The Petes now have three goalies, eight defencemen and 17 forwards remaining in the hunt for roster spots.

Released players include: Tyler Beneteau (Team TBD), Parker Casey (Brockville Jr. A Braves), Eric Conley (Navan Jr. A Grads), Kyle Curtin (St. Mary’s Jr. B Lincolns), Brady Egan (Pembroke Jr. A Lumber Kings), Tucker Firth (TBD), Liam Haslam (Brantford Jr. B 99ers), Jacob Hearne (TBD), Andrew Horsley (Georgetown Jr. A Raiders),

Liam Israels (Strathroy Jr. B Rockets), Aidan McLeod (Burlington Jr. A Cougars), Jagger O’Toole (Listowel Jr. B Cyclones), Sam Pink (Georgetown Jr. A Raiders), Ryan Richardson (Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears), Dakota Seaman (TBD) and Jordan Smith (TBD).

Of the 27 players remaining on the roster 25 of them either played for the Petes last season or have been signed by the club. The only unsigned players are forwards Dustin Hutton, the club’s top pick in the 2018 U18 Draft, and 2017 fifth-round draft pick Graeme McCrory.

The Petes will kick off the preseason against the Storm in Guelph on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Petes return home for a matinee faceoff against the rival Oshawa Generals on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
