Man stabbed in Cobourg
Three people taken into custody
— Three people have been taken into custody after a man was airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto for treatment of critical injuries after being stabbed multiple times in Cobourg overnight.
At around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Cobourg police responded to the stabbing at a duplex on Elgin Street East, just east of D’Arcy Street.
Police said the man, who is in his 40s, was transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital before being airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to the Toronto trauma centre.
The man is in critical but stable condition, police said.
Cobourg police Deputy Chief Paul VandeGraaf said police are not releasing any names at this time.
“We have three persons of interest in custody pending this early stage of the investigation,” VandeGraaf said.
The three persons of interest are in custody after being located by the Northumberland OPP K9 unit within Cobourg.
Officers remained at the scene, which was taped off, as the Cobourg Police criminal investigation bureau continues to investigate.
