The Mount hosting You Can Make It Art on Tuesdays

The Mount Community Centre is hosting You Can Make It Art, a Community Art Making Project.

The project includes 14 sessions on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. beginning September 11 and running until December 11. Admission is $5 per person per session or pay-what-you-can or free and includes all supplies.

Sessions are facilitate­d by Mary Lou Green and Brian Nichols. Everyone is welcome. This is a drop-in event and registrati­on is not required.

Multiple Sclerosis

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada presents Aging Well with MS and Cannabis and MS, Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Church, 360 Reid St. Kathleen Carr, an MS Nurse Specialist from Sunnybrook Health Science Centre MS Clinic and Darlene Cuthbertso­n from Canadian Cannabis Clinics will be presenting. Grandparen­t Storytime

The Peterborou­gh Public Library is celebratin­g Grandparen­ts Day with a special Saturday Grandparen­ts Storytime, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Suicide Prevention Vigil

Telecare Peterborou­gh and the Canadian Mental Heath Agency are hosting a Candle Vigil to commemorat­e World Suicide Prevention Day, Monday Sept. 10. This is an opportunit­y to remember those who have lost their lives to suicide, support their loved ones and help fight the stigma around suicide. Sharing and learning about help and resources available in Peterborou­gh begins at 6:30 p.m. The Candle Vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. This event takes place at the Silver Bean Cafe, located in Millennium Park at the corner of King and Water Streets.

Pow Wow Bus

The Council of Canadians is providing a bus from downtown Peterborou­gh to the annual Curve Lake Pow Wow, which takes place Saturday Sept. 15 and Sunday Sept 16 in Lance Wood Park in Curve Lake. The bus, for the Saturday event, is $5 per person for a round trip.

It will depart from Confederat­ion Park across from City Hall at 9 a.m. and will leave the Pow Wow grounds at 2:30 p.m. To reserve a seat, please phone 705742-4175.

Youth Earn-A-Bike

B!KE, the Community Cycling Hub, is now accepting applicatio­n for their Youth Earn-A-Bike program.

In this 8-session program, youth, ages 13-17, learn to completely rebuild a bicycle that they get to keep. In addition to learning mechanical and riding skills, youth are empowered to take their transporta­tion into their own hands!

The program will run on Mondays from 4 to 7 p.m. from October 15 to December 3.
