CITY BOYS HELP WIN RUGBY TITLES
Three Peterborough boys helped two Ontario teams win Canadian Field Lacrosse Championships Sunday in Oshawa.
Goalie Andrew Lagana and long pole Nate Allan helped Ontario’s Under-18 team go undefeated in the tournament with a 5-0 record scoring 119 goals for versus 13 against. They beat British Columbia in the gold medal final 15-5.
Lagana and Allan also won the Meredith Cup Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League championship playing with the Peterborough Jr C Lakers.
Long pole Nick Crowley helped Ontario’s U15 team to a gold medal. They lost a close opening game to B.C. 6-5. They easily handled the next five games of round-robin play outscoring their opponents 117 to 21. Ontario got redemption in the final beating B.C. 18-10 in the gold medal game.
Crowley also won an OLA Provincial bronze medal this year playing with the Peterborough Midget Lakers.
Both Ontario teams will compete for the Brogden Cup in Florida over the Christmas Break.
