Man, 18, charged with assaulting four people

-

A local man was arrested after a child and a teenager were assaulted at a city park Saturday. Police say an 18-year-old was operating a remote-control vehicle at a playground on Alexander Ave. at about 5:10 p.m. when he became involved in an argument with a child and a teenager. It’s alleged that he hit the child with a small knife and kicked the teenager in the leg.

They went home and reported what had happened, after which a family member and a friend went to the other person’s home, where they were allegedly assaulted.

Police were called.

Edward McLean, 18, of Alexander Ave., was charged with assault with a weapon, three counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released and is to appear in court Sept. 20.
