Arrest in motorcycle chase
City police officers had to chase a motorcycle at high speeds Aug. 29, leading to charges against a local man.
Police patrolling downtown spotted a motorcyclist riding an excessively loud bike in a dangerous fashion at about 4:35 a.m. and tried to stop him. The rider headed north on Water Street to Nassau Mills Road, moving at more than 100 km/h, while weaving in and out of traffic.
Police called off the chase for safety reasons bu identified a suspect.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for his arrest and an arrest was made Wednesday. Richard Andrew Hambleton, 31, of Trailview Drive, was charged with dangerous driving, stunt driving, disobeying a stop sign, failing to signal a lane change and unnecessary noise. He was released and will appear in court Sept. 20.
