Man, woman assaulted

A man who was approached by a stranger looking for change was assaulted at George and Hunter streets Wednesday afternoon, as was a woman passing by who tried to intervene.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. Police arrived and arrested a man.

Joseph Philip Willis, 29, of Murray Street, was charged with two counts of assault. He was held in custody and was to appear in court Thursday.
