Peterborough Table Hockey Challenge this weekend

- EXAMINER STAFF

The annual Peterborough Table Hockey Challenge fundraiser will take place Saturday and Sunday.

Games will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 317 Hunter St. W. with Saturday’s games played on Ontario’s favourite tabletop game, the Irwin Powerplay2. Sunday’s games will be played on Quebec’s favourite game, Coleco.

Players from as far as Quebec and New York will be attending.

Players wishing to join can pay an entry fee of $40 for one tourney or $50 for both. The tourneys are open to men, women and children aged 10 and up.

The general public can help support the ILC Ehlers-Danlos Foundation by purchasing tickets to win prizes donated by Peterborough community businesses.

Tournament founder Sid Kloosterman started the fundraiser after his daughter Dana-Marie Doherty was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of disorders that affect connective tissues supporting the skin, bones, blood vessels and many other organs and tissues. Defects in connective tissues cause the signs and symptoms of these conditions, which range from mildly loose joints to lifethreatening complications.
