Missing Cobourg senior found dead

COBOURG -- A body found floating in water near Monk's Cove has been identified as Ada Didomizio, 86, of Cobourg who was reported missing Friday night..

Cobourg police received a report of a body floating in the water in the area of Monk's Cove Park at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

“Uniform patrol and criminal investigat­ion officers responded to the report,” said police. “With the assistance of the coast guard and emergency services partners, the body of a deceased female was retrieved.”

The night prior, at about 10 p.m., Cobourg police had issued a statement asking for help locating Didomizio, who had not been seen since Tuesday, at her westend residence.

In the Friday release, police said “Ada Didomizio’s family and police are concerned for her wellbeing.”

At about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police regretfull­y confirmed Didomizio as the deceased woman found earlier in the Monk's Cove Park area.

“Thank you to all service partners and members of our community, both locally and online, for their concerns and assistance in passing along our requests for informatio­n, as well as in searching for Ada Didomizio,” said police Saturday.

A post-mortem examinatio­n has been ordered and the police investigat­ion is continuing.
