Peterborough Youth Unlimited is hosting a Fall Kick-Off Party Sept. 18 at The Bridge Youth Centre, 256 Brock Street. The Party, which runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., includes a concert, a bydonation barbecue and an opportunity to learn about upcoming programs at the centre.

Youth Unlimited is a non-profit, faith-based organization working to reach youth. Since 1999, it has run The Bridge Youth Centre, which hosts drop-in programs, after school programs, cooking classes, skate programs and provides a safe and positive place for youth in the community. The Centre has been newly renovated and features a new kitchen, new flooring and a new weather-sealed garage door. The space will also soon be receiving updated furniture.

“We are so excited to be kicking off the year with a new space for our programs” says Jennifer Kloosterman, director of Peterborough Youth Unlimited. “We believe the youth in our city have so much potential, and it is our deepest desire to see them grow in community with one another.”

The Kick Off Party concert will be the first show of Aid & Effect, a band made up of four Peterborough locals: Jason Dunn, Dave Clark, Matt Paige and Jake Goodman. “We just believe in the vision that Peterborough Youth Unlimited has for this city” says Jason Dunn, lead singer of Aid & Effect. “Growing up here, and then moving away, and now moving back here to raise families of our own, we want to help create and environment that is friendly, safe and awesome!”
