-

A security officer watched a woman enter a Chemong Road store Tuesday and allegedly take an item from a shelf, then return it at the customer service desk, where she received a gift card.

The officer then watched as she allegedly put other items in a bag and left the store without paying.

The officer stopped her outside the store and police were called.

Angel Karen Gardiner, 23, of Jackson Avenue, Oshawa, was charged with fraud under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

She was released and will appear in court Sept. 27.
