Excalibur men’s lacrosse opens season Saturday

The Trent Excalibur men’s lacrosse team will be aiming for a provincial championsh­ip in a new season starting this weekend with two games at Trent’s Justin Chiu Stadium.

They first face off against Bishops University at 4 p.m. on Saturday and then against Nipissing at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

They are the men’s first games with a new head coach Mark Farthing. Geoff McKinley stepped down from the position at the end of last season and was replaced by Farthing, who was last year’s assistant coach and a longtime player and coach.

The Trent Excalibur women’s lacrosse team heads to Toronto this weekend, first playing Queen’s, then against the University of Toronto.

Last weekend, after winning their first match against Western they made a comeback in their second, making Laurier hustle for their win that went all the way to the last minute of play before Laurier’s tiebreakin­g goal.

After their first win last weekend, the Trent Excalibur women’s soccer team will host Ryerson on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the U of T on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Excalibur men’s rugby team will take on Waterloo Saturday.
