Library hosting municipal election workshops

The Selwyn Public Library and Township of Selwyn are offering Voting How-To Workshops this month to get voters ready for the upcoming municipal and school board elections on Oct. 22. At these workshops you will be able to check if you are on the voter's list and learn how to vote online. A demo video and practice voting sessions will also be available. The dates of the voting workshops are: Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Bridgenort­h Library (836

Charles St.), Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Ennismore Library (551 Ennis Rd.), and Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Lakefield Library (8 Queen St.). For more informatio­n, contact the Bridgenort­h Library at 705-652-5065.

The Bridgenort­h, Ennismore or Lakefield libraries all have book clubs that meet monthly and are open to everyone.

The Bridgenort­h Book Club meets on the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Bridgenort­h Library. The Ennismore Book Club meets on the third Monday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Ennismore Library. The Lakefield Book Club meets the last Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Room (next door to the library).

Lakefield Historical Society

The Lakefield Historical Society will be hosting its first fall gathering at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Lakefield Legion, located at 10 Nicholls Street. It will be an evening of “Living History” where Sharon Clancy will share some of her family history and memories of growing up, living, and working in Lakefield. All are welcome to attend.

St. John’s Anglican Church

There will be a concert by the Duketow family called Rhythm and Grace on Sunday at 5 p.m. at John’s Anglican Church in Lakefield. A free will offering will be taken. There will be a pot luck supper following the concert. For more informatio­n, phone Gwen McMullen at 705-652-3024.

Lakefield United Church

Do you know a child who loves to sing? The Junior Choir at Lakefield United Church is welcoming new members. Children of elementary school age can join the choir that meets on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the United Church on Regent Street in Lakefield. Community Museum

Christ Church Community Museum will have their annual fashion show on Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church parish hall. Township of Selwyn

There will be a public open house regarding secondary suites (in-law suites, granny suites or accessory apartments) in dwellings. The Township of Selwyn is initiating amendments to the County Official Plan and Township Comprehens­ive Zoning By-law in order to permit second units in dwellings. The open house will be on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the council chambers of the Municipal Office, located at 1310 Centre Line.
