Husband charged in Home Depot shooting appears in court briefly
Terrance Finn is in the process of hiring a lawyer to defend himself.
Finn, 73, of Westwood in Asphodel-Norwood Township, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his wife Sandra Finn on Aug. 22.
The 70-year-old retired Fleetwood Canada Inc. secretary was shot in The Home Depot parking lot and died later that day in a Toronto hospital. Her husband was arrested at the scene by Peterborough police.
On Thursday, Finn made his fifth court appearance in Peterborough provincial court. During previous appearances, Finn has told the court he wanted to plead guilty and hurry the court process along.
Finn said nothing in court on Thursday while Toronto lawyer Mary Cremer addressed his matter. Cremer explained to Justice Jennifer Broderick that Finn is in the process of retaining her to defend him.
Assistant Crown attorney Amanda Kok told the court that her office will have substantial disclosure prepared for the defence by the end of next week.
Finn is scheduled to return to court via video from the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay on Oct. 12.
