Lesley Parnell participate in the unveiling of a new plaque and garden Thursday to dedicate the Royal English Oak Coronation Tree. The tree stands and thrives in front of Roger Neilson Public School on Erskine Ave. that was previously the site of Grove Public School in the city’s south end. McDowell planted the acorn as a kindergarten student and cared for it along with Frank Millard who was also a student there the day of the planting in June 1953.
