Man guilty of having loaded handgun in raid
Dallas Costain is a free man after serving six months of pre-sentence custody for careless storage of a firearm.
Costain pleaded guilty to the charge earlier this month and received time served and 18 months probation. A Norwich Arms .30-calibre gun was found loaded in a Dublin Street home in June.
According to Peterborough Police, Costain was arrested June 12 after the 30-year-old was located with drugs and knives in the George and Dublin streets area.
Later that night, the city police intelligence, crime analyst, asset forfeiture and drug unit raided the man’s home locating the gun and more drugs.
Costain was charged with possession for the purposing of trafficking heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana but those charges were withdrawn by Justice Jennifer Broderick on Sept. 7 in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of restricted firearm, and possession of a firearm with ammunition charges were also withdrawn.
