Arrest in bar stabbing

-

City police arrested a Toronto man after a stabbing outside a downtown bar early Sunday morning.

An officer patrolling downtown was flagged down by a person who said a staff member at a George Street bar had been stabbed by a man who then dropped the knife and ran.

Police found the knife while the bar worker was taken to hospital by paramedics.

An arrest was made shortly after. Errol Potvin, 37, of Pharmacy Avenue in Toronto, was charged with aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held in custody, appeared in weekend court and was to appear in court Monday.

The bar employee was released from hospital after being treated for his injury.
