Lakefield Legion gets ready to celebrate Thanksgivi­ng

Turkey Spin happens Saturday with prizes with every $2 ticket

The Lakefield Legion Branch 77 will present its Thanksgivi­ng Turkey Spin this Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Legion, downstairs in the club room. It will be an afternoon of activities with chances to win a turkey, ham or prize with every $2 ticket. This is an age of majority event. Phone 705-652-7988 for more informatio­n.

The Legion’s next Fabulous Friday Night Dinner, will be on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Legion. It will be a Thanksgivi­ng Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets are $15 in advance (by Wednesday prior) or $18 at the door. Reserve your advance ticket by calling 705-652-7988.

Chemung Lions

The Chemung Lions held a raffle at their Sept. 17 Cruise night in support of community charities. The Lions Club donated $1000 to the following groups: Buckhorn Community Care, Ennismore Community Care, Five Counties Children’s Center and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Chemung Lions would like to thank the many businesses in our area for their donations and the car show attendees for their support over the years.

Trent Valley Archives

The Trent Valley Archives is once again presenting the Little Lake Cemetery Pageant 2018 on Saturday and Sunday.

As you are guided through the cemetery, you will meet actors in period costume who will tell stories about whom they are dressed as to give insight into local history. The tours last about 90 minutes and will run every 20 minutes starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 29 and at 1 p.m. on Sept 30. Good walking shoes are recommende­d, and the tour is wheelchair accessible. Refreshmen­ts will be offered at the landmark chapel.

The meeting place is at the Little Lake Cemetery main gate at the corner of Crescent and Haggart Streets. No cars are permitted in the cemetery during the tours. Parking is available outside the main gates on either Crescent or Haggart Streets. The cost is $22 per person, with pre-registrati­on required. Lakefield Historical Society

The Lakefield Historical Society will be hosting its first fall gathering at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Lakefield Legion, located at 10 Nicholls Street. It will be an evening of “Living History” where Sharon Clancy will share some of her family history and memories of growing up, living, and working in Lakefield. All are welcome to attend.

Lakefield United Church

Do you know a child who loves to sing? The Junior Choir at Lakefield United Church is welcoming new members. Children of elementary school age can join the choir that meets on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the United Church on Regent Street in Lakefield. Christ Church Community Museum will have their annual fashion show on Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church parish hall.
