Curve Lake marijuana dispensary owner fined

CURVE LAKE — A woman who opened a medical marijuana dispensary at Curve Lake First Nation has been fined after pleading guilty to marijuana traffickin­g.

Tammy Banks, 45, was arrested by Anishinabe­k Police Service in February, 11 days after opening a medical marijuana dispensary on the First Nation north of Peterborou­gh.

Police raided Trican at 1262 Mississaug­a Rd. on March 8 and charged the store owner and her son, Joshua Banks, with traffickin­g.

Banks pleaded guilty to traffickin­g marijuana and was sentenced by Justice Stuart Konyer in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborou­gh on Sept. 4, Peterborou­gh This Week reported.

Konyer fined Banks $12,689.50. Charges against her son were withdrawn.
