RE: PAID EXPERTS CAME TO THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION, SEPT. 21

- W. Dunk, McClennan St.

Mr. Dave Tatham's letter was full of sarcasm and bad facts. He certainly needs to bang his head on his office wall a little harder.

His dislike for the Petes or hockey in general number one. He has obviously not been at a Petes game in the last couple of years. The "half full stands" comment is old news. Average attendance even last year in a poor year was great. In the past two seasons and now starting this season the stands are full and the fans are many.

Regarding his putdown of the seniors, who “go to bed before puck drop” on game nights is laughable. Proof he does not attend games but thinks he is credible enough to make comments. Hate to tell him, that myself and many other seniors in his so called 19.5 per cent of the population, attend and love the Petes and have for many years. Guess what? We stay awake for the whole game!

His sarcastic putdown of the fact that we need a new arena and that the OHL may not want this team, the oldest in the OHL to continue is further proof that we have a person who thinks he knows, but really doesn't, the actual facts.

He may be right about about the cost surveys and consultants, but he showed his ignorance when it came to the value and the following of the Petes and their importance to this city. He also seems ignorant of how the seniors of this city can stay awake and support their community and its sports teams.

Finally, what he totally has missed is the movement of the GTA and commuting families moving into this community which brings a whole new need for bigger and better facilities. The 19.5 per cent of seniors are being replaced by new young families, increasing employment, new subdivisions, and a demographic that is growing. We seniors have limited time left so don't judge our city on facts that are diminishing.
