Cavan FC advance to Frank Docherty Cup finals

-

The Cavan FC men’s soccer team has advanced to the finals of the Frank Docherty Cup in the OSL. On Sunday, Cavan FC scored four goals to defeat the Guelph Oaks FC at the Gryphon Soccer Complex at the University of Guelph. Cavan striker and captain Mark Van Beek had a hat trick, opening up the scoring in the 20th minute, as Cavan took control of the game.

He scored his second goal on a well-placed pass from Josh Braga.

Late in the first half, Cavan keeper Jared Foxon received a red card, resulting in a penalty shot, which was saved by Barga as replacement keeper.

In the second half, Cavan was down to 10 players but added two more goals, with Van Beek’s third goal and another on a solo effort by centre back Mitchell Cummings, which saw him dribble up the field, beat four Guelph players and curve the ball into the back of the net.

The final game date has yet to be set.
