Vegan restaurant Nateure’s Plate to replace Brio Gusto

- JOELLE KOVACH Examiner Staff Writer

A new vegan restaurant is expected to open in December to replace Brio Gusto Restaurant and Wine Bar on Charlotte St., which is due to close Oct. 5 after 15 years in business.

Nateure’s Plate will be a plantbased eatery and bar, states a message posted to the restaurant’s Instagram page.

Nate White’s posting states that he and his sister, Danielle White, are opening the restaurant. Neither of them could be reached for comment on Wednesday.

“We are so thrilled to bring plant-based comfort food to Peterborough and cannot wait to take you on this journey with us,” states the message.

The website for Nateure’s Plate shows menu offering such as veatballs (vegan meatballs) and pulled jack (marinated young green jackfruit, as an alternative to pulled pork).

“Nate’s meat alternatives will have you questioning, ‘Is it vegan?’” states the website. “If we can achieve the same taste, texture and satiation as classic omnivore meals using plant-based ingredients, why wouldn’t you ditch the cholesterol and cruelty?”

Brio Gusto is closing its doors after a last evening of service on Oct. 5.

Owner and chef Lindsey Dupuis had a baby six months ago. Earlier this month, she told the Examiner she was selling the assets and close Brio Gusto so she can spend more time with her family.

Dupuis said she worked through her pregnancy and took four weeks off after the birth – and then she was back on the job.

Although her son has come to work with her daily, she says now she wants to make a lifestyle change.

Dupuis, 31, was hired at the restaurant 10 years ago as a dishwasher. Six years ago, she bought the restaurant from Scott Wood, who now owns Ashburnham Ale House.
