Forcible confinement charge laid against man

A local man is accused of assaulting a woman and stopping her from leaving their home. Police were called to the home at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

It’s alleged that the couple was fighting when the man allegedly assaulted her and other people who tried to intervene, and kept her from leaving.

The man, whose name was not released by city police to protect the woman’s identity, was charged with domestic assault, two counts of assault and forcible confinement.

He was held in custody and appeared in weekend court Sunday.
