Halloween fun at Emily Park

If you are a Halloween fan, it is never too early to start so here’s an event for you. Emily Provincial Park will hold its Halloween event Oct. 6 at the park, 797 Emily Park Rd.

The event is open to the public with the purchase of a daily vehicle permit. There will be pumpkin carving at Shelter 2, 10 a.m.-noon. A group costume photo at 4:45 pm in the playground followed by trick-ortreating, 5-7 p.m. and a haunted trail walk, 7-9 p.m. from Shelter 2. If you have young people who might be interested in Scouting but don’t know what it entails, 1st Omemee Scouting will host an Open House, Oct. 11, 6:30 pm at Lady Eaton Elementary School. Parents, guardians and youth are invited to come and attend a meeting, hear about activities and have your questions answered.

Apple Day will be Oct.6 in the area. Youth are selling Scout popcorn until Oct.25. If you are interested in purchasing but do not know a youth, call 705-799-7064.

It’s not too late to register for this year’s curling season at the Omemee Curling Centre at www.omemeecurl­ing.com

If you have never curled and want to take up Canada’s sport, the Centre has a Learn to Curl program, Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at a cost of $275 for the entire season. The program includes complete instructio­n as well as a fun league.

Curling starts the week of Oct. 15.

There will be a Fall Vendors Market at the Centre, 15 James St.N., Oct. 27, 9-3 pm featuring Younlove, Chocoholic Delights, Thirty one, Olive Cedar, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, The Omemee Antique Shop and doTerra. Cost is $2 or a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Food bank.

The arrival of fall means Omemee Lioness apple pies are back on the menu. Order your pies from Lioness Barb 705-799-5911 at a cost of only $8.

There will be an all-candidates meeting for Ward 6 Oct. 11 at 7:30 pm at Coronation Hall. The evening will be hosted by Alex Crichton. There are seven candidates running for the seat in this ward including the two incumbents so the evening will give you an opportunit­y to hear from them and their positions on various topics.

The Omemee Seniors meet every Tuesday at the Omemee Legion. Annual membership is only $10. Oct. 2,9,16 and 30 is euchre at 1 pm, cost is $2.50. Potluck lunch is Oct. 23 at 12:30 pm, cost is $3. Tai Chi is held Wednesdays at 7 pm at Christ Church Anglican. Cost is $25 per month and the introducto­ry course is free. You can improve your general health through muscle strength, flexibilit­y and balance while relieving the physical effects of stress on your body and mind.
