Mother tricked out of $10,000

Peterborough County OPP were contacted Friday night after an area woman reported that she’d sent $10,000 to a caller claiming to be her son.

Police say the impostor told the woman he’d been in a collision and a child had been injured, and that he required $10,000 to be released from jail.

Another man told her over the phone that he was her son’s lawyer. After she sent the $10,000 by bank transfer, she realized she may have been tricked.
