Four leagues ready to start curling season
Men’s, women’s and mixed play available
Curling season is around the bend and the Otonabee South Monaghan Curling Club has four leagues that might appeal to budding “rock” stars. The Daytime Ladies League meets Tuesday mornings and the Business Ladies meet Thursday evenings. The Men’s League is on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings and the Mixed League meets Friday and/or Tuesday evenings. Contact Sherri Luff at 705-295-4321 or luffcdks@nexicom.net.
Talk about death
Death - Let’s Talk About It, is a three-week session for people to talk about grieving and death.
The first session deals with how to talk about death with loved ones and how to prepare our affairs for death. Session two is about changing rituals and how to honour the departed. Session three is about the physical, practical and spiritual aspects of grief.
The sessions run Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and start Oct. 18 at Keene United Church, under the guidance of Rev. Nancy Wilson. Everyone is welcome.
Trans-Canada Trail
The annual general meeting of the Peterborough-Hastings Trans Canada Trail Association will be held at Elmhirst Resort Thurs., Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. Those who have purchased memberships or bought tickets for the annual fundraising dinner are considered to be members. Snowflake Bazaar
Home baking, attic treasures, crafts, jewelry, plants and pots, special draws and a tea room are all part of the fun at the annual Snowflake Bazaar at Assumption Hall, 1834 Keene Rd., on Nov. 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of the Assumption, Otonabee and St. John’s, Keene hosts the event. Admission is $2.

1919 Oct. 21, Tues. Lovina and I went this forenoon to the Orange Hall and voted for McDonald, the Farmers Candidate for the Provincial Legislature and he is elected by a large majority. 1920 Oct. 15, Fri. I went to the Locks Bridge and bought 25 hens. Mrs. R.H. Leary came to visit us from Whitby this evening. 1920 Oct. 16 I went to the market this forenoon and bought a goose for Thanksgiving. I bought a basket of the largest and best pears I have seen this year. 1920 Oct. 18 This forenoon Albert Crowley came for me to help him to thresh. I worked for him at James Thompson’s threshing. Tonight I slept at the old home of Mr. Lowes.
