Griffins put unbeaten streak on line

After a bye week, the Thomas A. Stewart Griffins (3-0) will put their undefeated streak on the line Friday night against the winless St. Peter Saints (0-3) in Kawartha senior boys football action in a scheduled 7:45 p.m. tilt at TASSS in a showdown between the area’s two AAA level teams.

TASSS has had 133 points for and 45 points against, while the Saints have just 26 points for and 142 against.

The Adam Scott Lions (2-1) take on the Crestwood Mustangs (3-1) at Crestwood at 2 p.m. Thursday while the Holy Cross Hurricanes (2-1) travel to face the Fenelon Falls Falcons (2-2) at 3 p.m. Friday. The winless Haliburton Highlands Redhawks have a bye.

In action last week, Holy Cross trounced St. Peter 52-7 on Thursday while Crestwood shut out Fenelon Falls 39-0 and Adam Scott downed Haliburton Highlands 27-7.

The senior semifinals are expected to be played Nov. 6 with the Kawartha senior final scheduled for Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Thomas A. Stewart Field.

In junior boys football results last week, Holy Cross and St. Peter tied at 22-22, leaving them also locked in first place, Crestwood edged Fenelon Falls 21-16 and Adam Scott beat Haliburton Highlands 18-6.

On Thursday Crestwood (1-3) hosts Adam Scott (2-1) for a 4 p.m. scheduled start while on Friday Fenelon Falls (0-4) hosts Holy Cross (2-0-1) at 1 p.m. and St. Peter (2-0-1) faces TASSS (2-1) at the Thomas A. Stewart Field at 6 p.m.

The senior semifinals are expected to be played Nov. 6 with the Kawartha junior final scheduled for Nov. 10 at noon at the Thomas A. Stewart Field.
