The Northumberland-Peterborough South riding includes Asphodel-Norwood and OtonabeeSouth Monaghan townships in Peterborough County.
“We were thrilled to get the call recently,” said Jamie Simmons, communications director to Rudd. “Kim is very excited.”
Trudeau is expected to arrive at 6 p.m. and the event will run until 7:30 p.m., Simmons said.
Supporters from all ridings are welcome to attend the event, he said.
Large bags and backpacks will not be permitted at the event.
According to the Northumberland-Peterborough South Federal Liberal Association, the party’s priorities for Ontario include more affordable housing, growing the economy, spending on better roads, bridges and transit, and protecting the environment.
The federal election is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2019.
The Conservatives have yet to call a nomination meeting to name a candidate to face Rudd but it’s expected to be in November. Orono lawyer Philip Lawrence is running for the nomination along with Cobourg’s Sarah Honey and Grant Dingwall.
