Voters head to the polls Monday

Votes can be cast online or at any of 17 polling stations

- EXAMINER STAFF

Peterborough voters have two ways to vote Monday: In person or online.

To vote online, use the Voter Id number from the voter ID card mailed out earlier in the campaign to register at www.peterboroughvotes.ca. You will receive a PIN by email and use that to log in and vote.

You can register online up to 7 p.m. Monday, with voting ending at 8 p.m.

If you haven't received a voter ID card, you can register to vote in person at any city poll. City staff advise that there may be a wait to do this.

To vote in person, bring your voter ID card and ID with your address. Voters without ID can still vote, but must go through a longer verification process.

Votes can be cast at any of 17 polling stations in the city Monday. Voters aren’t restricted to voting in their own ward.

This election will see voters elect a mayor (incumbent Daryl Bennett and Diane Therrien, who represented Town Ward, are running) and two councillors in each of the city’s five wards.

Voters in Peterborough eight townships will vote today, with most using phone or online voting. Havelock-Belmont-Methuen still uses paper ballots. The reeves, deputy reeves, mayors and deputy mayors elected in the townships will make up the new Peterborough County council.
