Activity Haven hosts fun bazaar

Start your holiday shopping early. Activity Haven is holding its annual bazaar Nov.3 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with more than 50 vendors, a huge bake room with lots of tasty home baked treats, and a new-to-you sale.

And you won’t go hungry while you’re shopping; there will be lot of yummy things to eat, including home baked scones with homemade jam and grapes, hamburgers or vegetable soup for lunch, and mincemeat and lemon tarts for dessert.

Activity Haven welcomes gently used items for the bazaar. Also, there are still a few vendor tables still available for $25 each. For further informatio­n or to book a table call 705-876-1670.

Also, bingo, with a prize board of $500, will be held Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. sharp. The canteen opens at 5:30 p.m., serving burgers, nachos and cheese, chips, and candy bars. Come dressed in a costume and you might win a free bingo session. Enjoy ten games for $15.

Mini bucks bid euchre happens Saturday. Doors open at 11 a.m.; euchre starts at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $5. No beginners please.

South Asian cooking

The Seasoned Spoon Café at Trent University is teaming up with the South Asian Associatio­n at Trent (SAAT) to present a south Asian cooking workshop. Members from SAAT will lead participan­ts in the cooking and sampling of a few dishes. Participan­ts will also learn about traditiona­l spices and are able to take some recipes home.

Soap making

The Seasoned Spoon Café at Trent University is holding two soap making workshops; Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, both from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Learn how to make your own environmen­tally friendly, phthalate and paraben free soap and leave the workshop with approximat­ely 20 bars of handcrafte­d soap for yourself or to give as gifts and a soap recipe to explore on your own substituti­ng oils, fragrances, and other additives such as oats or coffee.

Picky Eaters

Is your picky eater driving you crazy and causing mealtime stress? Help is available at the Picky Eaters Workshop that will be held at Play Café, Brookdale Plaza, Chemong Rd., Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

The workshop, led by Shelley Phillpot, RHN, FDNP, of Hummingbir­d Wellness, will discus how to stop battling over food, avoiding using bribery and food rewards, and the common reasons for picky eaters including control and physiologi­cal issues.
