City of Kawartha Lakes campaigns were too negative

- ELIZABETH PEETERS

By the time this column appears in the newspaper the municipal election of 2018 will be in the books and none too soon for many of us.

This election seems to have been more negative than ever before. Instead of extolling their own virtues, candidates have chosen to talk about the negative aspects of their opponents. We’ve had a third party posting negative handwritten signs around the city.

Here’s hoping that the new council and mayor, whoever they are, will find a way to work together for the betterment of the city without such negativity. It doesn’t help anyone or the cause.

I’m also hoping that election signs disappear as quickly as they seem to appear each election. Sadly it won’t be long before the snow flies so the signs need to be gone quickly.

Stepping off my soapbox now and on with the news of Omemee and area…
