Belanger retiring after 41 years with Peterborough’s association of realtors
The executive officer of the Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of Realtors is retiring in November.
Kathy Belanger’s last day is Nov. 16.
She gave 41 years of service to the association, joining PKAR in 1977.
She helped the board move to its first computerized MLS system in 1984 and recently spent many hours selecting and converting members to the new MLS platform.
In 1996, Belanger was promoted to bookkeeper and member liaison, later serving as assistant executive officer.
She spent her last two years at the association as the executive officer.
“She’s an invaluable resource, to say the least,” said Kristi Doyle, PKAR board president.
One of the things Belanger will be remembered for is her dedication, Doyle said.
“She’s been a loyal and dedicated employee for so many years, always putting the associations need’s first,” Doyle said.
Because she’s been with PKAR for four decades, seeing it through many changes, Doyle said Belanger is also like a reference book regarding association.
“She’s a human resource, absolutely the definition of the word.”
Newcomer Christine Ball will replace Belanger at the end of her tenure in November.
Ball was most recently the executive officer of the EcoBusiness Network.
She has experience in sustainable building technology and energy conservation, organizational leadership and business, and marketing in both the private and non-profit sectors across North America.
Doyle said Ball will bring new ideas to the table while helping to sort out some efficiencies.
“Christine is going to bring creativity and a ton of energy to the position,” Doyle added.
Ball also has a passion for real estate, Doyle said.
“So, it was a nice fit.”
PKAR is hosting an open house and retirement luncheon for Belanger at the PKAR office on Charlotte St. on Nov. 16, starting at 11 a.m. PKAR members and friends, past and present, are welcome to attend.
The association was established in 1949 and aims to promote the value of realtors in Peterborough and the Kawarthas while also providing them with resources and tools.
