Stolen credit card used to make purchases

A 38-year-old man has been arrested after a city police investigat­ion into the use of a stolen credit card to make purchases. On Oct. 13, a resident on McFarland Street reported to police the theft of a number of belongings from his vehicle, including a credit card, police said.

The credit card was then used to make two purchases at two convenienc­e stores in Peterborou­gh, police said.

Investigat­ors identified a suspect and an arrest was made Wednesday.

Timothy Cain, 38, of Engleburn Avenue, was charged with two counts of using credit card data and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Cain was released from custody and is to appear in court Nov. 8.
