Ontario Works cheques won’t be mailed out

-

Because of the rotating Canada Post strikes, the city will not be mailing out payments or letters, the city announced Friday afternoon.

The Ontario Works cheques for Oct. 31 won’t be mailed and will be available for pick-up at the city’s social services offices in the Charlotte Mews at 178 Charlotte St. on Tuesday from 8:15 a.m. to an extended closing time of 6 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Direct bank deposit payments will not be impacted and will be processed into accounts on Wednesday as usual.

The city asks recipients to bring personal identification when coming to pick up an Ontario Works cheque or direct deposit statement, a release from the city states.
